EXHIBITIONS
The Handweavers and Spinners Guild holds an exhibition every two years at different venues in the greater Auckland area. Each exhibition has a theme and members strive to produce their very best work in their own particular field, while adhering to the theme of the exhibition. The result is an exciting and stimulating show, much enjoyed by members of the public and Guild members alike.
2010 EXHIBITION - 'SEA THREADS' - TEXTILES AND JEWELLERY
In September 2010, we again held our
Biennial Exhibition at
the Mairangi Arts Centre, Mairangi Bay.
We had a marine theme to our
exhibition, inspired by the beautiful East Coast Bays where the
Gallery is situated. The 'Live Arts' days on Sundays, included hands on demonstrations of weaving, spinning and
felting, as well as Floor talks by members of the Guild.
We also had an amazing Guest Exhibitor - Simon Misdale - who created the most stunning jewellery. Many pieces echoed the marine theme of the exhibition, including silver, black pearls, shells, driftwood and semiprecious stones. They were unique, one of a kind pieces which you would be proud to own.

2008 EXHIBITION - 'AN ARABLE TALE'
In August 2008, the Guild held its biennial exhibition, 'An Arable Tale', at the Franklin Arts Centre in Pukekohe. The theme of the exhibition was based on the agricultural and horticultural nature of the Franklin District, and members of the Guild had great fun designing and creating their pieces with this inspiration in mind. There were over 70 entries accepted for display in this modern gallery. Photos of some of the entries can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
