THE HANDWEAVERS AND SPINNERS GUILD
We are a group of about 100 friendly and enthusiastic crafts people, both amateur and professional, with specific interest in the textile crafts listed above. Members willingly share their knowledge and expertise.
We have our own rooms - the Textile Arts Centre - in Mt Eden (see map) where we hold our monthly meetings and where the various special interest groups meet.
Monthly meetings followed by a shared lunch are held in the mornings of the third Tuesday or Saturday of the month alternately, starting with a Tuesday meeting in February. A regular 'Show & Tell' table gives members the opportunity to share their work with others. The special interest groups also meet on a monthly basis
A weekly 'Fibre Fun' group is held on a Tuesday evening from 7 - 9pm, where you can bring along any craft you are working on, and receive help and encouragement, or even learn to knit. Visitors are always welcome.
The Guild also has a superb library of craft books which are available to members, a yarn room stocked with interesting yarns and fleece to buy, and equipment such as looms and spinning wheels available for hire. Classes are held regularly.
